The health & beauty industry encompasses a wide swath of personal care products, including toothpastes, deodorants, shampoos, hair colors, lipsticks, fingernail polishes, perfumes, skin moisturizers, mouthwashes, sunscreen, and lip balms. No matter what you are selling, an eye-catching label is critical to the success of your product.

At Dasco, we have the solutions you need to keep your packaging on-brand and compliant in the competitive health & beauty industry. Whether you are looking to order custom labels or automate your labeling process, our experts are here to help.

01.Print Your Health & Beauty Labels In-House

Making an excellent product label is no easy task. This is especially true in the competitive health & beauty industry, where marketing and brand image drive sales. But even a perfect label needs to be updated sometimes. Whether to accommodate for breaking market research or an expanded product line, an updated product label helps you stay one step ahead of your competitors.

Updating a product label can be a headache, especially if you outsource to a commercial printer. You’ll have to deal with restrictively high order minimums, high shipping charges and long lead times. If these are familiar woes, you should bring your label printing in-house.

Dasco has a selection of printers to help you take control of your product labeling. For health & beauty products, we recommend either the Afinia L801 Plus or the LT5C. The L801 Plus produces high-quality, waterproof labels at an affordable price point. The LT5C prints CMYK and white in a single pass to create unique and eye-catching labels. 02.Health & Beauty Label Requirements

Personal care products are regulated by the FDA. When you are designing a label for your product, compliance should be top of mind.

Some personal care products are regulated as cosmetics. These products include skin moisturizers, lipsticks, shampoos, and hair dye. These products are made for the sole purpose of beautifying or changing the look of one’s appearance. In this case, cosmetic companies are responsible for verifying the safety of their product.

Other personal care products are regulated as drugs. Among these products are antiperspirants, acne treatments, and skin protectants. Drugs are products intended to treat or prevent a disease, and generally they must be approved by the FDA before going to market.

Still other products are both cosmetics and drugs. Cosmetic / drug combinations include makeup with SPF claims, toothpaste with fluoride and antidandruff shampoo. These products are subject to the same FDA regulations as drugs because they claim to treat or prevent a disease.

Depending on your product’s classification, it will have different label and disclosure requirements. It is best to have this information before you design any label or packaging.

03.Durable Product Labels

Consumers use personal care products every day. They use them in the bathroom, at the sink or on the go. They need a product that’s durable, and that goes for the label too!

Not all labels can withstand moisture, oils or frequent handling. At best, your label will peel and fade. At worst, the ink will smear and cause a mess. Either way, a shoddy label makes your brand look cheap and unprofessional.
